No, I am not home for good but a three-week vacation was needed to celebrate the holidays with my family.
On December 19th I presented about the Peace Corps and my time in Benin to my old job the Landing Retirement Home.
I worked there from 2018-2023 growing up, going through college, studying abroad, and applying for Peace Corps with the residents in the retirement home. I appreciate this place and experience so much and am happy to come back and give presentations. I have also presented about my time in South Korea so it was just fitting I also talk about Benin.
I started presenting after mingling with the Residents, my Professor Dr Karla, and another incoming Peace Corps volunteer who wanted to come watch my presentation! at 1:40 pm we started! I talked about the Peace Corps mission, where I am, and what I do in a day. I showed a few videos about my house, music, and dancing in Benin.
When we got to the questions, I was on stage for a long time! I presented for about an hour and a half and then continued with questions until my microphone died! It was so much fun and I really missed the residents' and seeing their smiling faces.
After my presentation, I surprised my grandparents. I hid at home in the basement and then entered expecting to treat my mom to a birthday dinner and I jumped out. The surprise was a success and no one knew I was coming home except my parents. I also stopped by my other grandpa's house with some stuff my dad had to return and he was like who is at my door how could it be emma!
So far my time in America has been nice and full of Christmas spirit, happy holidays!
